Rhythm & Booms is Madison, Wisconsin's premier Independence Day Celebration and fireworks display. It is also the largest single-day event in Wisconsin.

Founded in 1993 by Terry Kelly, who established the Madison Fireworks Fund (a 501(c)(3) charitable organization which hosts Rhythm & Booms) the same year, the event has ranked at or near the top of the community's favorite summer events. It is estimated that close to 200,000 people - primarily families - attend the annual Fourth of July extravaganza at Warner Park on Madison's north side.

The fireworks begin at dusk on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 and are choreographed to music, which is broadcast over WOLX-94.9FM. Spectators bring their boom boxes and radios to the park and tune in to enjoy the perfectly synchronized fireworks show without any sound delay.

Rhythm & Booms is a one-day event and is run almost entirely with the generous help of volunteers who assist with everything from the set-up, serving soda and water, collecting parking fees and donations, and cleaning up the last bit of debris after the event.

Rhythm & Booms is fully funded from corporate sponsorships and contributions, as well as private donations. In addition, many services are donated by local businesses. Proceeds from the event's vending activities, after expenses, benefit Madison area charities and non-profits; some $427,000 has been given since 1993. Madison Fireworks Fund and Rhythm & Booms is now owned and operated by Madison Festivals, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization that also produces Taste of Madison and Madison Marathon Events.
